How a group gift works, step by step
- The organizer adds an item with a price to the Wishlist and ticks "Chip in together".
- Guests join the group gift on that item. While the group is open, anyone can leave.
- The person buying closes the group (at least 2 people), confirms it with a one-time code and gives a bank account or BLIK phone number.
- yay.gift splits the price between everyone - the leftover cents stay with the buyer - and sends each person their amount with the transfer details.
- Everyone taps "Paid" and the buyer confirms receipt. When all payments are confirmed, the group gift is settled.
A counter of what's missing
The list shows how much is still missing, so guests know whether to join. A group gift takes one piece of the item, so nobody can reserve the same gift separately in the meantime.
Until the group is closed, the buyer can cancel the group gift and guests can join and leave. Once it's closed the amounts are fixed and everyone sees their share and the payment status.
yay.gift never touches the money
There's no wallet, no commission and no waiting for a payout. The transfer or BLIK goes straight to the buyer, and yay.gift only shows the details and helps confirm payments. The bank account and BLIK number are encrypted, go only to people in the group and are deleted after the group gift is settled.
When a group gift helps
For a first communion, when godparents and grandparents buy a bike together. For a wedding, when friends chip in for the honeymoon. For a birthday at work, when the whole team buys one bigger gift. Anywhere a few people want to give more than each could alone.
